City Of Southfield 2024 Black History Month Kick Off

Saturday - February 3, 2024, The City of Southfield hosted its Annual 2024 Black History Month Program event at the Parks and Recreation Pavilion. Organizer Shauna Hutchinson and her team with the City of Southfield Parks and Recreation Department has been spearheading this annual kick off to Black History Month in Metropolitan Detroit for over 10 years. When asked why is it important for the City of Southfield to host this annual event, she replied, “people of all ages must knowledge the past and current history being made today”.

Over 500 residents and guests came out to visit the traveling museum, support local businesses like CCandBooks and listen to keynote speaker Ralph Carter aka Michael from the 70’s Hit Television show Good Times. Charles Collectibles and Books LLC continues its support of Black History and literacy 365 Days a year! We appreciate the community support and acknowledge the reason we strive to educate future generations of leaders.
