Jackpot is the third young adult novel from HBCU Spellman College Alumni Andre Nicole Livingstone a.k.a. Nic Stone. Ms. Stone is a talented African American author focusing on bringing black characters to life through her books. This thirty-something-year-old author is a mother of two African American boys who will grow up to be men. Realizing that someday her boys may be seen as grown men while still teens impacted her to write Dear Martin and Dear Justyce, her second novel. In her first novel, Dr. Martin, she examines the racial profiling of a young black teen and his letters on how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would handle his situation.
